About giving at Epoch Community

The church globally is sustained by the giving of Jesus' followers. We encourage our community to be generous in supporting the church God is building, the wider community they are part of, and people in other places in need of our support.

One of the most significant challenges in worship is placing God at the top of our priority list. God has always asked for our best, and our first. "Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce" (Proverbs 3:9 NLT). We demonstrate the role God has in our lives through our generosity to His kingdom. After all, we live in God's world, and everything we have and receive comes from Him in the first place (Psalm 24:1)

Our only source of income is the generosity of the Epoch Community, and this is how God has designed it.

What should I give?

In the Old Testament (and in Jesus' time), the guideline for giving was called the tithe (which literally means one tenth). However, the New Testament builds on the prescribed idea of the Old Testament and replaces it with the concept of joyful generosity that isn't connected to compulsion. The Apostle Paul says, "Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." (2 Corinthians 9:7 NLT)

The tithe concept gives us a guideline, but the concept of generosity that comes from a thankful heart to God is our goal at Epoch Community.

40 Days of Generosity

You might love God and want to give to His work, but you're not sure you can find the room in your budget to give what you want. Well, why not take God at his word and meet Him in faith?
"Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test! Your crops will be abundant, for I will guard them from insects and disease. Your grapes will not fall from the vine before they are ripe,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies."
(Malachi 3:10-11 NLT)
God wants us to demonstrate our love for Him, and He will respond to us when we do. We're so sure of it we've created the "40 days of generosity" challenge. This is a moment of commitment between you and God, we don't track your giving. When you sign up, every week for 40 days you will receive a weekly email with a short reflection from the Word of God and a challenge. This helps you build a biblical understanding of God's stewardship, and our responsibility to His kingdom and our wider world.

Perhaps you are new to giving, or need a fresh start. Either way, consider 40 Days of Generosity.
